Branford Marsalis Quartet - Four MFs Playin' Tunes
On Columbus Day 2011, Roderick Ward and Rob Hunter returned to the Hayti Heritage Center to once again transform the space into a recording studio. This marks the fourth time they've done so. Twenty-four hours later, the four members of the Branford Marsalis Quartet assemble, enter, and following the necessary soundcheck, begin to record. Joining saxophonist Branford Marsalis, pianist Joey Calderazzo, and bassist Eric Revis is drummer Justin Faulkner, who after joining the band in 2009 arrives to his first recording session with the band. Three cameramen and a single photographer captured the spirit of their collaboration. Two days and nine tracks later, Four Mfs Playin' Tunes is complete.
