The results were pretty varied this year as no act really dominated. My Chemical Romance (Best International Band, Best Video) and Justin Bieber (Worst Album, Least Stylish) were the only artists to snatch more than one award.

Here's an overview of the NME Awards winners:

Drummer Dom Howard and his band Muse picked up an award as Best British Band for the second year in a row, beating nominees such as Arctic Monkeys, Biffy Clyro and Kasabian.

My Chemical Romance, who have been using Michael Pedicone as touring drummer since Bob Bryar departed in 2010, were voted Best International Band. Runners Up included Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon, The Drums and Vampire Weekend. My Chemical Romance also won an award for the video of Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)'.

Laura Marling was voted Best Solo Artist.

Arcade Fire's 'The Suburbs' beat Crystal Castles and Foals to Best Album. It's a pretty good awards season for Arcade Fire since they also won a Grammy earlier this month.

Biffy Clyro were awarded as Best Live Band, leaving Arcade Fire, Foals, Kasabian and Muse behind.

Hurts took home the NME Award as Best New Band.

Last but not least was Dave Grohl, who won the Godlike Genius award bestowed by NME (non-voted). He was clearly overawed by the reception, and stood smiling for a few seconds before stating:

"You guys realise they gave this one to a drummer, right? This one's for the drummers!"
