Formed in 1988, Threnody released their debut album in 1993: \"As the Heavens Fall\" featured John Mutters on drums. The release was followed by live appearances with Sepultura, Death and Paradise Lost, among others.

their second album, \"Bewildering Thoughts\" (1995), featured Richard van Leeuwen on the drum throne. The group\'s video for Dare Restrain, taken from their sophomore album, was in regular rotation on MTV\'s Headbanger\'s Ball.

After a few line-up changes, including another skinsman replacement, Threnody issued their third album, simply entitled \"Threnody\", in 1997.

According to a press release, \"Control\" is

\"packed with catchy leads, heavy riffs, pounding drums and liquid bass sounds. \"Control\" is about losing, having and gaining control and being controlled.\"
