The launch marks the opening of the United Kingdom’s first dedicated DW showroom, located within the Roland Store London on Denmark Street. The new space will house a selection of DW drums, plus instruments from Slingerland and PDP. Designed to provide drummers with a comprehensive, hands-on experience, the showroom showcases the full breadth of the DW family, from shell configurations and tonewoods to finishes, hardware options, and custom setup possibilities.
Positioned as a new UK centre of excellence, DW London aims to serve professional and semi-professional drummers, serious enthusiasts, studio owners, educators, collectors, and international visitors alike. On the evening of the launch event, knowledgeable staff will be available to provide personalised, one-to-one tours of the showroom.
Denmark Street in Music History
The Roland Store London is a flagship showroom located on the historic Denmark Street, often referred to as the birthplace of the British music industry. Opened in 2022 as a standalone experience, it offers full access to the latest Roland and BOSS instruments, from digital pianos and V-Drums to synthesizers and DJ gear.
The street's musical legacy began in the early 20th century as the hub for sheet music publishers. Before the era of recorded music, this was where songwriters pitched tunes to performers.
Denmark Street, tucked away in the West End near Tottenham Court Road, is arguably the most famous musical thoroughfare in the world. Often called London’s Tin Pan Alley, it has served as the heartbeat of the British music industry for over a century.
Blues & Rock Legends at Regent Sound (No. 4)
While many studios existed on the street, Regent Sound Studios was the most influential for the 1960s British R&B and Blues explosion:
Several artists have written about the street:
Denmark Street by The Kinks (1970): Written by Ray Davies for the album 'Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One', this track is a cynical jab at the music industry.
Bitter Fingers by Elton John (1975): Featured on the autobiographical album 'Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy', the lyrics specifically namecheck Denmark Street.
Elstree by The Buggles: This song mentions the Giaconda Café (No. 9), which was the primary social hub for musicians on the street during the 60s and 70s.
Premium DW 1-2-1 Experience
For those seeking a truly personal experience, DW London offers free, bookable consultations. These sessions enable drummers to explore shell configurations, wood types, finishes, hardware options, and setup considerations-culminating in a custom DW kit built to their exact vision.
Jueze Phoenix, Manager of Roland Store London, commented: "We’ve created a space where drummers can explore and design the DW kit they’ve always envisioned. Our experienced team is here to guide each visitor through the options and help them find exactly what feels right. Whether you’re at the beginning of your journey or an established professional, this showroom offers something for every drummer."
What is the music that Thomas Lang listens to himself? We asked that question when visiting his studio in Los Angeles. As it turns out, he is a radio guy listening to FM-stations all the time. Here is a fun video and article with Thomas as driving DJ on the roads of sunny California. He also really digs real albums, with real liner notes and where all credits on an album are always available.

Renowned for his extraordinary technical command, stylistic versatility, and influential work as an educator, Thomas has built a distinguished international career across multiple genres. His performance credits span pop icons including Robbie Williams, Westlife, and George Michael; rock legends such as Tina Turner and Glenn Hughes; and progressive artists including Robert Fripp and John Wetton of Asia. Equally at home in pop, rock, jazz fusion, and metal settings, Lang’s adaptability has established him as one of the most sought-after session drummers in the industry.
