Kasabian and Muse dominate, one award for Arctic Monkeys

Ian Matthews and Kasabian have won two Shockwaves NME Awards: for Best Album (\'West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum\') and Best Album Artwork. Drummer Matt Helders and his band Arctic Monkeys took home one award: as Best Live Band. Muse, featuring Dominic Howard on drums and percussion, won the coveted Best British Band award plus the Best Website (for Muse.mu) award.

The ceremony took place at the O2 Academy Brixton in London last night (February 24).

Drummer Brad Wilk and his band Rage Against The Machine were named Hero Of The Year after their song Killing In The Name snatched the Christmas Number One slot last December from The X Factor\'s Joe McElderry due to a Facebook campaign. The band dedicated the award to their fans.

Kanye West was voted Villain Of The Year.

Remarkable: Lady Gaga, live backed up by drummer Andreas Brobjer, took home two awards: one as Best Dressed Artist, the other as Worst Dressed Artist.
