The TD-07KV V-Drums are a compact and affordable new drum set in Roland's V-Drums series. After the VAD V-Drums series, launched at the 2020 NAMM Show, this baby V-brother is exactly right for practicing and still have full control over your sounds. Let's have a closer look...
The new Roland TD-07 module is filled with 50 drum kits and 143 instruments. Besides the load of electronic percussion to play around with, you can change out and tune drums, add damping, change the ambient environment, and use EQs and transient editors to create your desired sounds. Good to know beforehand is that a kick pedal and a drum throne are not included with the TD-07KV. The optional V-Drums accessory package includes a kick pedal, a drum throne, and a pair of Roland drumsticks.
The Roland TD-07KV explained First the video. Here is Pat Kennedy from Roland - a beast of a drummer! He takes you through the entire drum kit. Below the video is a quick rundown of the TD-07KV's best features. Including some of our Roland videos with Vinnie Colaiuta, Michael Schack and Craig Blundell.
Bluetooth audio streaming The built-in Bluetooth lets you stream audio from devices into the module but a cable connection is available as well.
Coach functions & Metronome The metronome and coach function are great to practice your time with the metronome and coach function will track your progress.
Live streaming The TD-07KV is also a recording interface and sound module in one. By connecting it to a computer via USB cable, the TD-07KV can send stereo audio and MIDI data directing to a DAW, for easy home recording and even live streaming.
The heads and the drums The TD-07KV has Roland's double-ply, tension-adjustable mesh drumheads on the snare and toms. The snare pad is the PDX-8 (8-inch) and has independent head and rim zones to assigning different sounds.
The three PDX-6A (6-inch) tom pads have single-zone triggering. The crash and ride with the kit are Roland's CY-8 12-inch pads, the 10-inch hi-hat has an integrated pedal. And there is the well-known KD-10 kick pad.
As always, we can trust Roland to have built drums and racks with strong materials. The company takes pride in building a custom drum four-post rack stand with sturdy components for this kit. And we all know racks are often an issue with cheaper e-drums.
Is it affordable? The price of the TD-07KV is about $999, which is a fair price for what this kit can do. If you don't have any drum gear yet, the V-Drums accessory package will set you back another $190 (€165.06 | £149.00) or so to include a kick pedal, drum throne and a pair of sticks.
