The Blue Devils from Concord, California have won the 2014 Drum Corps International (CDI) World Championship. History was made during the Finals at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, as the Blue Devils set a new record high score with their final performance of 'Felliniesque'.
Their Finals score of 99.650 smashed the previous record by 0.50, previously shared by the Cavaliers in 2002 and the Cadets in 2005.
This is the Blue Devils' 16th title since 1976, also a record for the World Class corps.
The drum corps once again took the first place in every caption except Percussion, in which the corps placed second by 0.15.
Santa Clara Vanguard, who placed fourth with 96.075 points, won Percussion by 0.15 over the Blue Devils and took home the Fred Sanford high percussion award.
It's the tenth high percussion award that Santa Clara Vanguard has won, coincidentally with the most recent being in 2004 with the corps' first production of 'Scheherazade'.
Bluecoats, landing on a second place with a score of 97.175, achieved their highest placement ever. The corps' overall score was 0.30 over the Cadets, the corps that had taken second in both Prelims and Semifinals.
The Cadets eventually placed third, with a score of 96.875 points. Complete results and a recap analysis can be viewed on dci.org.
