Scorpions drummer James Kottak will spend a month in jail in Dubai and hasto pay a fine of Dh 2,000 (about 540 US dollar). The musician, 51, has been convicted of being drunk, insulting Muslims, flashing his middle finger and removing his pants at a group of passengers at Dubai airport, and insulting police.
Due to the incident, James was forced to miss the Scorpions' Bahrain gig on April 5 where he was replaced by Mark Cross.
The drummer was arrested at Dubai airport on April 3 and has been in custody ever since. He will be released soon as the time spent in detention will be deducted from his sentence.
The rocker says he took a wrong turn at the airport while flying from Russia to Bahrain and mistakenly ended up at the transit hall. There he was arrested for being drunk. After that he was reportedly getting angry, swearing and talking about "non-educated Muslims".
James has admitted to drinking, but denied flashing his middle finger, dropping his pants and cursing Muslims. His lawyer had earlier argued that the drummer did not commit an indecent act, but only wanted to show his tattoo on his back to the public.
