Sabian has introduced a 22" Limited Edition Carmine Appice vintage ride cymbal. Developed by the Sabian Vault Team in collaboration with rock drummer Carmine Appice, this medium-heavy, low-profile model with a vintage-style bell will be limited to 200 pieces. Appice's credits include Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne and Blue Murder."This Vintage Rock Ride has a clean stick sound, but the overall response is nice and dark; very rich with tone. I like darker sounding cymbals that add power by becoming part of the music, rather than simply cutting through it."
Adds Wayne Blanchard, Sabian Senior Marketing Manager:
"Carmine’s influence through the years has been phenomenal. Before he came along there was no ‘rock’ drumming as we know it today. Hard rock, heavy rock, speed metal, they’re all rooted in Carmine’s approach to mixing groove, technique, and power. His Vintage Rock Ride is a great example of a cymbal that is both powerful and musical."
Hand Hammered from Sabian’s B20 bronze, the Limited Edition Carmine Appice Vintage Ride has a traditional-sized bell (same size as the popular Raw Bell Dry Ride) and is hammered and fully lathed with traditional wide-blade lathing. This model is available exclusively in Natural Finish.
In related news: Neil Sanderson, drummer with Canadian alternative metal/post-grunge band Three Days Grace, has become a member of the Sabian International Artist Program.
