Dutch drum veteran and long time Meinl endorseing artist Ron van Stratum has teamed up with Amel Serra, one of the young and new generation percussionists from Cuba, now living in Belgium. The duo will travel to the Canary Islands for a series of three workshops on Tenerife on October 25, 26, and 27.
Ron van Stratum is a contemporary mainstream musician with a internationally renowned reputation for versatility in fusion, jazz, Latin, pop and rock. During his career he has played with Randy Brecker, Mike Stern and Mike Manieri, among others. He also is a very in demand teacher and is very active in the Dutch clinic circuit.
Amel Serra\'s traditional Latin roots combined with a modern and hip approach keeps him busy all throughout Europe. He is a freelance percussionist but mainly plays with Belgium bands Zita Swoon and El Tattoo Del Tigre.
The duo has performed together before at several occasions, including the Meinl Drum Festival 2005 in Germany and the Vancore drumfestival, Joure in The Netherlands.
