Due for release on November 14 via Interscope, \"So Divided\" was recorded with longtime collaborator and producer Mike McCarthy at his studio in Texas in spring/summer 2006.
The album continues the band\'s dedication \"to portraying a holistic and at times uncomfortably honest expression of the human experience\", according to Sound Generator.
Featured on the new album are timpani drums, samplers, synthesizers, guitars, strings, acoustic guitars, piano, bass, slide guitar, keyboards, violins (played by Grammy winner Hilary Hahn) and backup vocals (by Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls). A cover of Guided By Voices\' \"Gold Heart Mountain Top Queen Directory\" is also included.
Regular AYWKUBTTOD drummer Jason Reece is also performing as lead vocalist sometimes. Then frontman Conrad Keely takes over on drums. A second drummer, Doni Schroader, was added to the line-up in November 2004. On the photo you can see both drummers perform simultaneously.
