"Producing a professional metal album takes a lot of time, dedication and of course money. In days of constantly declining record sales, most record labels won't take the risk to finance your album and cover all the expenses necessary to get the best possible result if there's not a big name on the cover. My bands might be popular... as an individual I am not. I want to deliver the best possible sound quality, have the best production possible for my songs and also have a great artwork in order to give my music a visional counterpart. If you agree with that, please help me to make this album happen!"
On his official website Hannes Grossmann explains that the music on his solo album sounds a lot like his band Obscura:
"That's just how I compose. The reason not to release it as an Obscura album is simple: Obscura is a band, which means that four people work together and create music as a collective. If I write 45 minutes of music on my own, it has to be a solo record. It's probably gonna take another year until a new Obscura album will see the light of day, so here's your chance to make time pass more quickly."
The album was mixed and mastered at Woodshed Studios by V. Santura (Triptykon, Dark Fortress) and boasts a load of prominent guest artists such as Jeff Loomis (Ex-Nevermore), Christian Muenzner (Obscura, Spawn Of Possession), Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura), Florian Magnus Meier (Noneuclid, Dark Fortress), Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Ron Jarzombek (Spastic Ink, Watchtower), Jimmy Pitts (Spastic Ink, Pitts/Minnemann), Danny Tunker (Aborted) and Fountainhead.
You can listen to one of the songs, dubbed Aeon Illuminate (edit) at Soundcloud.
In 2011 Hannes released an educational double-dvd called 'Progressive concepts for the modern metal drummer'. The nearly four hours of material was all written, produced, filmed, edited, and cut by Hannes himself, an impressive feat!
