\"We have a sad sad announcement to make. For seven years we have had the pleasure of having one of the finest drummers around in our family. During these years Mikael has been struggling to follow a path that several bands in the genre spit on. This has sometimes put 6th Awakening and mostly Mikael in a situation where personal beliefs have been compromised. This has been a situation that during the last month has been all-consuming and we as a band have come to the conclusion that 6th Awakening and Mikael will part ways. We wish Mikael all the best in the future.\"

6th Awakening recently signed a deal with the Bainbridge Island, Washington label Aphotic Records. The group will enter the studio later in the year to begin recording its debut album for a tentative summer release.
