Joey LaCaze, longtime drummer and co-founder of New Orleans sludge-metal band Eyehategod has passed away at the age of 42.
There are few details at the moment of writing, but metal blog Invisible Oranges reportedly received confirmation "from a very credible source that [Joey] has in fact passed.
Eyehategod has yet to publicly comment on Joey's passing, but numerous other reports out of New Orleans have confirmed the sad news.
The drummer had recently returned from a European tour with Eyehategod, and was preparing for a slew of dates in celebration of their 25th anniversary, and planning the recordings of a new album.
Joey formed Eyehategod with guitarist and drummer Jimmy Bower (Crowbar, Down) in 1988. He released four albums with the band, their most recent being 2000's 'Confederacy of Ruined Lives'.
