On Monday June 15, Sabian has excavated their 100 cymbals the company has burried a little more then eight months ago. Driven by curiosity, the specialists in the Sabian Vault joined forces in this unique project and buried 100 of their premium Vault Artisan ride cymbals in an undisclosed spot near the Sabian factory in eastern Canada.\"We\'ve tried a few and there definitely is a difference. Still too early to tell for sure, as they need to settle down a bit from being in the ground for 8 months. We\'ll know more in a couple of days.\"
The day after the excavation Mark Love comments:
\"Today the One of 100 cymbals have been unbagged and run through our automated washing process to remove the dirt. We actually had to run them through twice to fully remove all of the earth. Some of them are more rustic than others, depending on their location in the steel cage. Bob \'Sabian\' stopped by to check on our progress and inspect the sound of a few.
They certainly have changed with the mid range more enhanced and the highs and lows have mellowed and are more subtle. More as we prepare to trademark and serial number them over the next week.\"

Ordering
From March 5, 2009, it is possible to order one of the hundred cymbals on the Sabian website. The cymbal is a custom-sized 21\" Vault Artisan Ride, medium weight, natural finish. Purchase price is $800. Buyers of the cymbals will receive special benefits. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity to be named later.
