Former Korn drummer David Silveria, who was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) plus hit and run after rear-ending another car in March 2012, has struck a deal with prosecutors. He decided to plead guilty this week in exchange for a lesser charge: the hit-and-run charge was dropped.
David, who played with Korn from 1993 to 2006, was arrested in Huntington Beach, California and admitted he was driving while under the influence of a sleeping pill.
David said he suffered from insomnia and did not realize the following morning that he was too exhausted to drive when he got behind the wheel: "It was an honest mistake".
As part of his punishment, the drummer has been sentenced to three years of informal probation, and he must also partake in a three-month first offender program and attend a MADD victim impact panel.
