Drummer Kliph Scurlock is no longer a member of The Flaming Lips, according to the drummer's representatives.
Rumors were circulating when fans noticed Kliph Scurlock wasn't playing with the band at the Buku Music Project in New Orléans last month.
Matt Duckworth, drummer for Lips collaborators Stardeath and White Dwarves, filled in during the Buku show.
Additionally Steven Drozd, the Lips multi-instrumentalist and drummer since 1991, played drums for the song Race for the Prize, his first performance on drums during a regular Lips set since the summer of 2002.
Matt also took up the drums in the Flaming Lips' April Fools Day videos, which the band created with comedy website Funny or Die.
There is no word yet on whether or not Matt Duckworth will be joining the Flaming Lips permanently.
Based on some of his recent tweets, it appears Kliph Scurlock was fired from the band. When a fan tweeted "Hope yr still in the band…", Kliph responded:
"Yeah….it would be nice... but it's not up to me."
