Four students are expelled from the school, and another 30 are dismissed from the band after Robert's death.
No one has been charged in his death yet, but the Orange County Sheriff's Office suggested that more action will be forthcoming.
The victim's family made clear they did not want to punish the school's famous marching band:
"We don't want to stop the music. We want to stop the hazing. (...) Our goal is that no other family will have to live through this pain."
Controversy has swirled around the Tallahassee university since Champion's death, including three arrests tied to the alleged hazing of a freshman band member a few weeks earlier.
2012 was supposed to be a big year for the university since it was founded in 1887, 125 years ago next year. But recent headlines about FAMU are all about deadly hazing and investigations.
