Drummerszone.com conducted an interview with Tom Hunting, long-time drummer with thrash metal veterans Exodus, while he was touring Europe as part of Thrashfest, the "thrash metal tour of the year" also featuring Suicidal Angels, Death Angel and Kreator. In the five videos below, Tom Hunting wears his heart on his sleeve and speaks out about plenty of topics exclusively for Drummerszone.

In the first video, the drummer talks about growing up in California.
Tom names Angel Witch and Mercyful Fate - but also Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder - as his first sources of inspiration and speaks about his admiration for former Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr. He also chats about being a left-handed drummer but shooting a gun right-handed, and talks about his time away from Exodus.
The second video is all about Tom's drum gear. The Exodus drummer addresses his Yamaha set, compares oak with birch and maple, his Meinl cymbals and Vic Firth drumsticks plus his wish to collect snare drums.
Video three revolves around recording and cooking: Tom explains the Exodus drumsound and reveals his favorite recipe. Producer Andy Sneap is very keen on how the drums sound sound like, mixing samples with regular drum tones. Tom also gives a lecture about preparing for a show: stretching and hydrating as much as possible. "It's lubrication man, you got to stay hydrated".
Video four unveils Tom's experience as drummer in a marching band for one night only: "I couldn't have fun with just one drum".
The last video contains unique footage of Tom's brave attempt to play the intro of Children of a Worthless God (of 2007's 'The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A') on the stairs. A must-see!
