Kasabian drummer Ian Matthews performing at the 2019 Herfstfest Drum Festival on his British Drum Co Lounge series. Here is his opening drum solo and Ian's story on how he got to be a board member of the fastest rising drum company the music industry has ever seen.
Ian & the British Drum Company Since joining UK based band Kasabian in 2001, Ian has released six official albums and over 35 singles on Spotify with the band. He has toured the world back and forth and up and down several times, touring and headlining many of the world's biggest festivals.
Opening his performance at Herfstfest, Ian recalls being friends with British master drum builder Keith Keough for years before he invited him to a Kasabian show where the band was headlining the V Festival in the United Kingdom.
Meeting backstage after that same show, Keith showed Ian a drum badge of a new dream he had in mind: to start a new drum company.
He asked Ian to join this new company and Ian directly saw the opportunity to not only play his favorite drums around the globe, but also to be involved in the processes of making the instrument with one of the best drum builders in the world. Four years later, the British Drum Co is one of the fastest growing companies since decades.
