The deeper works on drum fills
A simple question can lead to a lot more. Mark talks about the recording session of one of his favorite drum fills. And he explains how the sound effects for this fill were achieved 20 years ago. The intro fill with his work on Simple Minds' She's a River starts at 0.16 in the background and lifts the track straight into the groove and sound that is key for all of the Scottish band's hit songs. The song is embedded below.

She's a River is the opening track of their 1995 album 'Good News from the Next World'. A cool factoid here is that Mark shares the drum chair on this album with two other legends: Vinnie Colaiuta and Tal Bergman.

On publication date, Mark Schulman is in Europe on tour with P!nk for her Beautiful Trauma World Tour 2019. Kicking off in Amsterdam on June 16, the ±120 people counting circus visits Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, United Kingdom, Belgium, Austria and Poland until August 11, playing their last concert of this tour in The Netherlands again. On October 5 the band can be seen again in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where they will headline the forelast day of the famous Rock In Rio festival.
