As one of the early descendants of the musical history in Zappa bands, with highlights like the 1979 album 'Sjeik Yerbouti', 'Zappa in New York' and being the drummer that Frank Zappa actually wrote the The Black Page for, Terry Bozzio is all drums - and all music. His compositions are not about gathering beats and not about showing off technique. They are about musicality, sound, creativity, possibilities, and will probably go a bit further than any drummer at a drum festival expects. That is why you just have to sit down, listen and go along with the musical journey that Terry takes you on. Music at a level beyond drums, but by drums.

'The Big Kit', as Terry calls it, took six hours to set up for the show. It has the following instruments and hardware.

• All drums are DW Verticle Low Timber drums with Ziracote finish

• Black powdercoat rims with Terry's own Tunerz lug locking adapters to prevent detuning & back turning
  
• All pedals are DW 9000 (bass drum pedals with nylon strap & Terry’s special cam modifications) & 9500 (hihat pedals with chain) series.
  
• Remote pedals are 9000 single post (The right side pedal posts are reversed because linkage goes to the right and to allow for the pedals to sit close to each other.)
  
• All bass drums are mounted on PDP cradles that allow the most tone & resonance and adjustment for striking the sweet spot on the head.
  
• Beaters are Puresound Percussion hard plastic or felt.

Sadly enough, no media were allowed to record Terry's clinic. Therefore we took a closer look from inside The Big Kit. The images give you a good feel of what Terry sees and has to manage on his drum stool.
