When KORG announced the company had bought drum brand and long-time drum manufacturer Sakae, the promise was made they would come with new products. And so they did. At NAMM2019, the company showed their first two cajons, a first-ever Walnut snare drum, and a prototype of their new Evolved Maple drums. Check the video below to see what the new Sakae products hold for the near future.
Until now, the Sakae cajons were available in Japan only, but for drummers this is good to know: the company is also working on a newly designed kick pedal as you can see below the video.
The new in the video promises a lot. It would have been a shame if such a great drum brand, respected by the drum community, would have disappeared from the market. For instance, artists like Eric Harland or J.J. Johnson and Tyler Greenwell from the Tedeschi Trucks band use them in the studio and on tour.
The big advantage for all the Sakae Osaka products now is that they will be distributed through KORG's worldwide distribution network. And that is a huge step forward in making the drum better available worldwide.
