Yamaha have been active on the hybrid drum department for years. Incorporating acoustic and electronic elements to create new and fairly unlimited musical pathways for drummers is high on the Yamaha development list. The more than good looking DT50 drum triggers feature a dual zone snare drum trigger and a bass drum trigger. Both work on any drum module that you connect them to. If you already own a Yamaha drum module, there are firmware updates that have the presets for these new models.
Actually, the DT50S version is designed for snare drums and toms. The DT50K is made for bass drums. The DT50S is a dual zone trigger that isolates the head and rim sensors to capture those vibrations separately. The video below show you how easy they can be mounted with a thumb screw. Once attached, they stick. Both triggers have a small trigger footprint and soft material for head contact to capture the acoustic drum sound as good as possible.
Looks matter The solid metal die-cast body with chrome finish looks vintage and modern at the same time. Definitely not a bad add-on to show off with. In Yamaha words: "With Yamaha Absolute lug-style designs to maintain a durable, clean and professional look." And Yamaha knows service: cables are included with the package.
