Tycoon Percussion is celebrating its 30th anniversay this year. No wonder the company cheerfully debuted the 30th Anniversary Celebration Series congas, bongos, cajon and djembe at NAMM 2013. All instruments in this series are made of American Ash wood with a black stain and come with black drum heads.
Also premiering at the NAMM music trade show were Tycoon's new Pearl Signature Series congas, bongos and djembe. They have a really fine texture on the surface to keep them from being too glossy and are topped with classic white drum heads.
The newest edition to the Tycoon cajon line is the 29cm wide Crate Cajon, individually hand-made with a body constructed of environmentally-friendly Siam oak. The Crate Cajon's finish is a tribute to this instrument’s original creation in the late 18th century when, having been banned from any type of musical instrument, slaves turned to wooden boxes and shipping crates as a way to create music.
Other new Tycoon cajons are the Practice Cajon with speaker and the fiberglass light up cajon, which gives the coolest lightning effects while playing.
