According to Wacken promoters Holger Hübner and Thomas Jensen, it's "a long awaited dream come true".

Next year's installment of the festival will take place in Wacken, Germany from August 4 - 6, 2011.

Other acts that have been confirmed so far include Airbourne, Apocalyptica, Kataklysm, Mayhem, Ozzy Osbourne, Primal Fear and Suicidal Tendencies.

In related news about Judas Priest: the ageing metal gods have announced their farewell tour nest year, hitting all the major cities throughout the world. After 40 years of churning out classics like Breaking The Law, Screaming for Vengeance and Painkiller, the British metallers are ready to rest their voices. Judas Priest are not splitting up, even though 2011's Epitaph world tour will be their last. The band states:
