In 2008 After Forever took a break for a year due to guitarist and founding member Sander Gommans\' health problems.
Now that temporarily break has become a permanent hiatus. \"It sucks, but it\'s the best for now\", according to Sander.
After Forever was founded in 1995. The symphonic / gothic metal band release their debut album ‘Prison Of Desire’ in 2000.
The album was critically acclaimed in Europe, but the road to worldwide success was rough and bumpy.
In 2002 co-founder Mark Jansen parted way with the group and formed Epica. Three years later drummer André got cancer, one year later the group had an accident with their tourbus in France.
After Forever\'s final album, simply dubbed ‘After Forever’, was released in 2007.
