The tired looking musician also stated that he will not tour to support any future releases, nor will he be appearing in public at all. However, Devin Townsend will continue as a solo artist.

Devin Townsend intends to move to a remote Northern Canadian town. His new house will have a studio, though he will keep his Vancouver studio which he uses to produce other bands. He plans to make \"a ton of music\", some of which will be heavy, some ambient and everything in between.

Eight months ago Devin Townsend and his wife had their first child, Reyner Liam Johnstan Townsend, and his arrival has accelerated Devin\'s decision to back away from the limelight, but is not the sole reason for it. He is also tired of Strapping Young Lad, with the last tour being extremely difficult for him to muster any enthusiasm. He no longer has the same frustrations SYL was created to vent, and no longer feels the need to scream at people: Said Townsend:

\"I\'m not the angry early-twenties nutter anymore. I\'m a mellow mid-thirties nutter, and doesn\'t feel the need to be screaming at everyone. So, Strapping Young Lad is over for good. So is the Devin Townsend Band.\"
