The Dixie Chicks are the big winner of the 49th Grammy Awards. The three ladies have won the two most important prices on the biggest prices event known in music. Most spectacular was probable the return of the Police. After 23 years of absence they rocked the house by playing their biggest hit \'Roxanne\'.

Besides the Chicks, who won Record Of The Year (Not Ready To Make Nice) als Album Of The Year (\'Taking The Long Way\') and Song Of The Year, John Mayer was also a popular price winner. Hij won the categories Best Male Pop Vocal Performance (Waiting On The World To Change) and Best Pop Vocal Album with his album \'Continuum\'.
The award for Best New Artist was for Carrie Underwood, the Idols winner who passed James Blunt in taking the price. As many probably expected Christina Aquilera received the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance with the song Ain\'t No Other Man from her album \'Back To Basics\'.
Naturally Madonna took the award for Best Electronic/Dance Album with her \'Confessions On A Dance Floor\'. A small prediction can be made here: next year there is a good change she will receive another one for her recently released \'Confessions Tour\' CD or DVD.
Michael Brecker, who passed away on January 13 after following a two and a half year battle with MDS and then leukemia, received posthuum the Best Jazz Instrumental Solo for his work on Some Skunk Funk. Beating Roy Haynes with his drumsolo Hippidy Hop. With his brother Randy Brecker as well as Jim Beard, Will Lee, Peter Erskine, Marcio Doctor and Vince Mendoza conducting The WDR Big Band Köln, Michael won in the category Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album.
Other winners are George Benson and Al Jarreau with Mornin\' as Best Pop Instrumental Performance, Peter Frampton got the award for Best Pop Instrumental Album for \'Fingerprints\', Eddie Palmieri\'s \'Simpático\' was Best Latin Jazz Album and Chick Corea\'s \'The Ultimate Adventure\' won de golden record player in category #48: Best Jazz Instrumental Album, Individual or Group.
