\"They always remained friends and just thought it was time to begin again, especially since Phil\'s break-up with his third wife Orianne has left him with time on his hands.\"
Genesis were huge in Britain and America and there probably remains a lot of affection for them.
Phil Collins: drummer and lead vocalist
After Genesis released \"Trespass\" in 1970, guitarist Anthony Phillips departed. The remaining band members fired drummer John Mayhew. Genesis then recruited Steve Hackett (guitar) and Phil Collins (drums), resulting in the classic Genesis line-up.
During the recording of the concept album \"The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway\" (1974), lead singer Peter Gabriel and the rest of the band started to disagree about several things, resulting in the leaving of Gabriel in 1975.
Now Genesis had to search a repplacement frontman. After hundred of unsatisfiying auditions they band was close dispair. Except for the vocals they had completed their next album \"A Trick Of The Tail\" (1976) but still couldn\'t find a proper vocalist. That\'s when drummer Phil Collins decided to give it a try as lead vocalist. It worked perfectly and so Collins bcame the band\'s drummer and singer.
