Work on the follow-up to 2004\'s \"Panopticon\", will begin soon in Los Angeles and is tentatively set for an October 2006 release.
Often compares with acts like Mogwai, Neurosis and The Melvins, Isis\' latest album \"Panopticon\" is once again all dark grandeur and waterlogged heaviness. Even more epic and swirling than 2002\'s \"Oceanic\", Isis\'s third full-length combines their velvety, slow avant-metal with submerged drums and vocals, and intricately monolithic guitar riffs.
Isis named the album after Michel Foucault\'s take on of Jeremy Bentham\'s concept of the panopticon; the tracks are thematically connected via Foucault\'s Discipline & Punish: The Birth of the Prison.
