"It is our hope that through the release of this album, his musical legacy will continue to garner more fans around the world. We are dedicating the release to his memory."
Given Away from StOrk 'Broken Pieces'
In loving memory of Shane Gibson 1979 - 2014.
This is the only stOrk song on which Shane sings lead vocals. His guitar work on this track is spectacular (as it always was) but this song was extremely important to him. In memory of Shane's life and artistry, we will be "giving away" this track on April 29th to celebrate the release of stOrk 'Broken Pieces'. Sign up now for the stOrk newsletter at www.storkband.com & we'll send you the track.
We are heartbroken that Shane did not live to see the release of this record. stOrk was Shane's "baby" and its music is his legacy.
We hope you enjoy - stOrk
I don't really know what to say this morning. My best friend of 16 years passed away a few hours ago.
The truth is, I think he was everyone's best friend. He was such a happy, friendly, warm, and hilarious guy that I can't really picture anyone not liking him. He brought our friend community together at Berklee and connected the 8th floor with silly music, laughter, and hand stands. Prank calling dorm rooms, "Heyyy Heyyy Heyyyaahh" and yelling out the window.
Making music with this guy was really the funnest thing in the world and even thinking about it as I type this, I feel like a piece of me is lost and gone now. Whatever we collaborated on was effortless and j'awesome (my opinion) lol. He was just a guy that ideas flowed from all the time and that is so special. I don't feel the need to spend a lot of time on the monstrous talent he was on guitar...I think that speaks for itself.
Soooo many other good times that I'd like to mention, but don't want to write 100 pages on here. The man introduced me to my wife! What more can you say than that?
Although he had fallen the last couple of years and been in a place that I don't think he wanted to be, I'm sooo glad that this community was able to reach him. I am so thankful for Elizabeth and Thomas Lang, Jeremy Simeon Howell Griffith, Aaron Gibson, and Shane's parents. To me, it's so special that his family came together so quickly. It really showed the love and if I were him, I'd be really glad to be surrounded by such great people in my time of need. Thanks to Erika Kimura and ALL of you that so lovingly reached out.
It's not all the time that we have a chance to tell each other how much love there is or how much someone has changed our lives or just how much they mean...I am so blessed that I had this opportunity with Shane.
I will always miss you and remember you buddy. I'll see you on the other side my friend. RIP Shane Gibson
-I love you all
