The Mezzo Series specialty drumsticks Mezzo Series specialty drumsticks are specifically designed for lower-volume playing. There are two new models, the Mezzo 1 and Mezzo 2.
When the musical setting calls for a lower volume than drumsticks, but more definition and articulation than is possible with traditional brushes, Zildjian’s new Mezzo series is the perfect solution. Both Mezzo models feature multiple high-quality birch dowels that deliver a clear, crisp attack on the drumhead or cymbal, but will not overpower accompanying acoustic instrumentation. Birch is used for durability and both models feature an adjustable o-ring that lets the player control the dowels’ spread to customize the sound.
Mezzo™ 1—Seven dowels surround a larger center dowel, producing a bright, focused tone with a very cohesive feel.
Mezzo™ 2—A grouping of 19 smaller dowels produces a more delicate, wider sound, with a softer feel, perfect for small-club acoustic settings.
Both models feature vibrant orange handles and sealed end caps and are 16” in length with a handle diameter of .600”.
ZHT: Zildjian High Tin ZHT, which stands for Zildjian High Tin, refers to the higher tin content Sheet Bronze alloy that Zildjian engineered for use on this line of cymbals. ZHT cymbals are all crafted from an alloy that is 88% copper and 12% tin. This is compared to the standard blend of 92% copper and 8% tin used on Zildjian’s existing ZBT and ZXT cymbal lines. The higher tin content provides additional mid and low-end frequency output for enhanced musicality. It also provides an exceptional appearance.
In addition to the improved sheet bronze alloy, Zildjian utilized many other high-end cymbal crafting elements to maximize the sound and appearance of ZHT. Every cymbal in the series is fully lathed on the top and bottom, which allows the cymbals to dynamically open up, increasing sensitivity and projection. The cymbals are also precision hammered like many of Zildjian’s higher end Cast Bronze cymbals. This hammering helps to further refine the sonic attributes.
With a starting selection of 23 models, ZHT offers an exceptionally wide range of choices for the beginning to advanced player. Some notable models offered for the first time in a Zildjian Sheet Bronze series include Zildjian’s popular Mastersound HiHat feature, two sizes of Mini-sized HiHats, a 20” Flat Ride, and two EFX models which feature a combination of elongated and circular holes to control the build-up of overtones and limit projection and decay.
Due to its well-balanced blend of frequencies and wide range of models, ZHT is well suited for all types of music. Rock models are available in a weight heavier than standard models and best suited for highly amplified situations. ZHT is available as single units in all 23 models as well as 4 Pre-pack box sets. All ZHT Sheet Bronze cymbal models will be available to ship January 2006.
