#TD17.1 - Roland introduced the brand-new TD-17 on May 8, 2018. Without latency, the hashtag #totallyDrums travelled across all the social media at light speed during the global streaming event on Facebook. All was happening live at Roland Headquarters in Los Angeles, and Drummerszone was invited to be part of it. In 45 minutes #totallyDrums featured the new Roland threw into to drumming world - all new products in Roland's V-drums series that we will feature in many articles. Here is the first rundown of the TD-17 gear. And it is impressive.
These drums have a lot to offer for any drummer, from beginner to pro. Below, you'll see V-Drums and Roland expert Michael Schack playing the kit. In other articles he will dive deep into the realm of possibilities the TD-17 module has to offer with the integrated TD-50 sound engine. In those series of insightful lessons, Michael teaches and takes you through all magic happening in the module, the pads, the cymbals and the hardware.
However, this article does not feature the sounds and the possibilities of the module in combination with the drums and cymbals. This one outlines why the TD-17 differs from all the other kits in the V-drums series and make them a new standard in e-drumming, but definitely for V-drums.

Jules is Global Marketing Strategy Manager with Roland, and Murai is the main guy behind the development of the TD-17 and the TD-50.

More new in V-Drums! The TD-17 series also feature three other new items: the PDX-12 snare pad, a brand new KD-10 kick pad and the VH-10 V-Hi-Hat.
VH-10 V-Hi-Hat Only with the TD-17KVX, the VH-10 V-Hi-Hat mounts on an acoustic hi-hat stand. It has advanced triggering and continuously detects on open/close movement and bow/edge sounds.
KD-10 kick pad The new KD-10 has a noise-reducing design, that you instantly hear. Best thing though: it can be used with any kick pedal or dual pedals.
PDX-12 snare pad The snare drum of the kit. It has a dual mesh head and 12-inch playing surface. The height of the hoop is close to an acoustic hoop, which makes playing it much easier because the angle of the stick is like that on a regular snare. You can also - like with all the pads - adjust the tension of the head.
What is in the TD-17 packages... For the V-nerds, here are the specs per kit. The KVX and the KV differ on a few items. The TD-17K-L is really a light version, but still with the cool new sounds that are taken from the TD-50 flagship model.

Make sure when buying the TD-17K-L, it does not have the new PDX-12 12" snare pad.
TD-17 accessories All the kits come with the regular accessories. There are some differences between the models, like the Knob bolt that is needed for the PDX-12 snare pad with the TD-17KV and -X. Or the absorption plate that only comes with the TD-17KVX.
