The new Ludwig Raw Brass Snare Drum Watch the first item that landed in Europe The new Ludwig 6.5\ Today, we visited Drumland Drum Store in the Netherlands. There we saw a beautiful new snare drum that Ludwig probably officially announces at the NAMM Show next week. It is the Ludwig LB464R Supraphonic 6.5"x14" Raw Brass Snare Drum that has a seamless, one piece brass shell. And as you can see, it looks almost devine. We recorded a quick video and hit it a few times, so you can hear and see a first raw impression.

Some specs
This Raw Brass snare drum also features the new Ludwig P88 strainer which uses a ball bearing and is ratcheted, for precise and incremental tuning of the snare wires. The strainer also has a lengthened lever, as you can see in the photos we added.

This drum has a 1.2mm Seamless Brass Shell, 2.3mm Steel Triple Flange Hoops, the P-88 Throw Off/Butt Plate and the Ludwig Weather Master Drumheads.

More info
Inspiration for the Ludwig Raw Brass Snare Drums are the well known Black Beauty snare drums. The shells are identical to the Black Beauty, prior to finishing. No patinas or lacquers are applied and each shell is left to age on its own. Hence, no two drums will look alike. Ludwig Raw Brass Snares have a rich set of overtones. And that is something you can adjust to your taste.

In the US it goes for $699.00, in Europe the price will be around €1,100.
