A few weeks before NAMM 2014, drumhead and percussion maker Remo launched one of their new 2014 products online. Without reveiling any of the new sound, the new Ebony Emperor head looks already great.
Ebony heads are available in Ambassador and even darker Pinstripe. Ebony Ambassador heads have also become extremely popular for the fronts of bass drums due to their depth, resonance and classic look.
Remo Ebony Emperor teaser
Ambassador The Ebony Ambassador heads are medium-weight heads made with a single ply 10 mil Mylar film to produce an open, warm and resonant sound with plenty of attack. Ebony Ambassador heads are ideal for batter and resonant heads for tom toms and are known as the standard of the industry for front bass heads.
Pinstripe The Ebony Pinstripe heads are made with two (10- & 5-mil) Mylar plies with a measured layer of a ring reducing agent applied between them at the outer edge of their trademark stripe to dampen high frequency overtones for warm resonance. Ebony Pinstripe’s quick decay makes them ideal heads for the "fat" sounds of Rock and R&B and for those who want more low end sounds with moderate attack and response characteristics.
Powerstroke 3 The Ebony Powerstroke 3 features a thin underlay at the outer edge of the head to subtly dampen unwanted overtones. Ebony P3 heads are best known for use as a resonant bass drum head. This creates perfect balance of mid and low tones that has quickly made Ebony Powerstroke 3 one of Remo’s most preferred resonant bass drumheads.
Powerstroke Pro Constructed with 10 mil film, the Ebony Powerstroke Pro features our new Pressure Dampening Profile and permanently mounted acoustic foam that provides maximum volume and projection while producing controlled highs, accentuated mid and maximum low range frequencies.
Suede The Ebony Suede heads are medium-weight heads made a proprietary processed single ply 10 mil Mylar film with a 5 mil reverse dot to produce a warm, open and resonant sound with a warm attack. Ebony Suede heads have a unique black appearance and produce a sound that’s a cross between the brightness and resonance of clear and the midrange articulation of coated.
