Meinl Percussion recently welcomed percussionist, educator, composer and arranger Andrew A. Lázaro to its family of artists.
Andrew is using Meinl's Professional Series Congas and Bongos, Amadito Valdes signature Timbales, Meinl string Cajon and Meinl cowbells and blocks.
About Andrew Lázaro Andrew has performed with all the major classical ensembles from his native Puerto Rico, as well as many popular music groups.
Andrew graduated from Indiana University with a master's degree in jazz plus a performance certificate in recognition of his outstanding musical performance abilities.
Currently, Andrew teaches in the Jazz & Caribbean Music Program of the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico to which Meinl USA recently donated a set of Marathon congas, Marathon timbales and Luis Conte bongos.
Andrew also plays regularly with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra and in the Charlie Sepúlveda's Big Band.
Andrew has worked and collaborated with many classical, jazz and latin artists, including Branford Marsalis, Eddie Gómez, Andrea Boccelli, percussionists Paoli Mejías, Ralph Irizarry, Giovanni Hidalgo and Rubén Blades, to name but a few.
