Renowned Swiss cymbal maker Paiste announces the worldwide introduction of its 18" 2002 Giga Bell Ride 'Psychoctopus', created in accordance with Aquiles Priester’s sound and visual ideas. The 2002 Giga Bell Ride enhances Paiste's line of artist inspiration cymbals and celebrates Aquiles’ loyalty and dedication to the Paiste sound for the over ten years.
Brazil's Aquiles Priester is one of the most respected drummers throughout all of South America.
His popular clinics motivate and inspire many young drummers around the world including his recent appearances at Modern Drummer Festival and Montreal Drum Fest.
The cymbal's hammered bell, which measures close to 8" in diameter, dominates the overall shape. Its black 'ColorSound' coating and white 2002 silk-screen of Aquiles’ recognizable mask and 'Psychoctopus' logo complete the cymbal’s exceptional visual appeal.
Utilizing 2002 bronze alloy, this heavy weighted cymbal is hand hammered similar to the style of the 2002 Heavy Ride. According to Paiste, the Giga Bell Ride has a concise, dry and glassy clear ping sound and the large cup produces a quick, cutting, powerful, and dark bell-like sound when played with the shoulder of the stick.
Whether inspired by Aquiles’ drum solos or performances with his band Hangar, many other drummers will benefit from this penetrating, well-defined, and unique sounding cymbal.
2002 cymbals are entirely made by hand in Switzerland using traditional methods that have remained unchanged in over half a century.
