After the success of their Formula 602's re-launch in 2011, Swiss cymbal maker Paiste will introduce new Formula 602 models at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt, Germany Europe's largest music equipment trade fair, set to take place from March 21-24.
Paiste is about to increase its assortment of models and sizes with the release of 16 and 18 inch Paperthins, a 20 inch thin crash, and 14 inch medium hi-hat.
602 Paperthin The 16 and 18 inch Paperthins are ultra light crashes with almost no resistance that respond immediately with a warm, lively and discreet crash sound. They fade as quickly as they build up. These cymbals are highly recommended for hand playing when warmth and transparency are more important than volume.
20 inch Thin Crash The 20 inch Thin Crash follows the current trend of big, thin cymbals that flourish on stage. Deep in overall tone with silvery highs and a breathy fade, the 20 inch size contains a broader frequency mix paired with more volume which serves as a perfect complement to the 16 and 18 inch sizes.
Formula 602 Sound Edge hi-hat Although the Formula 602 Sound Edge hi-hat set its stamp on numerous world famous recordings, drummers began inquiring about the 14 inch medium hi-hat immediately after 602's re-release in 2011.
Their soft feel and defined clarity is what makes this cymbal pair suitable for moderate pop and rock as well as jazz and many other acoustic music styles.
In the sixties and seventies, Paiste's Formula 602 cymbals were very popular and used by a lot of drummers on stage and during a lot of historical recording sessions. In 2011, Paiste relaunched five of the most popular cymbals, using the master cymbals of the 1960's for a new production era.
