The 55-year-old musician who was drummer in Prince's backing band the Revolution from 1978-1986, had three blocked arteries cleared by doctors. The medical team is currently waiting on Bobby's health to improve before tackling another blocked artery.

Bobby's son Adam Rivkin explains:

"They wanted him to get stronger in order to go through the final phase and take care of the third one. He's in critical condition and resting. He needs to build his strength so his heart can work on its own. Now they have him on help."

In 1986 Robert Rivkin left The Revolution, in part because of Prince's increasing interest in electronic percussion. The drummer was replaced by Sheila E.

Since then, Rivkin has mainly made his living as a producer. He worked with artists such as Wendy and Lisa, and Boy George.
