Levon Helm suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which makes breathing difficult.
Levon Helm'll be playing at Saturday's Ramble, but says he will try to "pace himself".
The Ramble is at 7 p.m. Drummer Steve Jordan, a long-time friend of Helm's who has performed with Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Bruce Springsteen, will be sharing the drumming duties with Levon Helm.
Blues singer Shemekia Copeland, daughter of Texas blues guitarist and singer Johnny Copeland, and Alejandro Escovedo, singer-songwriter and member of the famous Escovedo family also featuring Pete Escovedo and Sheila E, are the evening's two opening acts.
