\"The Keith Moon film depends on someone sitting me down long enough with a writer to get it right - I\'ve got it all in pictures in my head, I know what the film should look like, the way the narrative should be structured. But every time I\'ve left a writer to it before now, they say: \'Ok, I see what you mean, I know what you want\', and then they go off on a complete tangent from what we\'ve agreed because they don\'t know what it feels like to be in a band.\"
Wayne\'s World director Penelope Spheeris signed a deal for a Keith Moon biopic, with Mike Myers set to play the drummer, but Roger said no to the script:
\"That is one of the big problems with Keith\'s life - it needs to be written by someone who was there. It needs more time than I\'ve been able to give it. But I\'d love to have the time to do it justice with the right writer.\"
Keith Moon gained acclaim for his exuberant and innovative drumming style - often eschewing basic back beats for a fluid, busy technique focused on fast, cascading rolls across the toms, ambidextrous double bass drum work and wild cymbal crashes and washes.
Keith Moon was also notorious for his eccentric and often self destructive behaviour, earning him the nickname Moon the Loon. He died on September 7, 1978, only 32 years old, due to a drug overdose.
Zak Starkey has been playing drums and percussion for The Who since 1996.
