The remarkable situation started when McMurray’s bandmates Tim Wheeler and Mark Hamilton moved to New York in 2005. They are currently living there to record their new album.

However, the sticksman refused to move from his home in Scotland – so Rick McMurray has to make the massive commute whenever he’s needed to add some beats to their new record. Explains Ash frontman Tim Wheeler:

“We relocated here last summer, I\'m loving it, but Rick is still in Scotland, he flies back and forth whenever we need him.\"
