\"We focus on technique, rudiments and reading in the mornings, then we split up into 4 or 5 drum lines in the afternoons. Each drum line learns exercises and warm ups, a percussion feature with drill, and a cadence. Some of the \"funnest\" times occur when we do the drum circle events in the evenings. (...) nother major philosophy of the camp is that we learn not just about drums and drumming but about life through drumming. I would encourage anyone who loves marching percussion, from the beginner to the expert, to come and experience this great camp.\"
UNC provides many drums and is a great supporter of the Matt Savage Camp. The staff provide all pit percussion instruments. Explains Matt:
\"We have basically two sets of drums that we are able to use for the camp. Other schools, in the past, have brought their own drums too. As the camp gets larger, we will need to depend on groups and participants to bring their own drums. (...) Pro-Mark is a great supporter of the camp in that they provide all the sticks and mallets for the camp. Everyone also receives a free pair of the Matt Savage Signature snare drum sticks.\"
