While Metallica is playing three shows in South Africa this month and has a string of European festival appearances lined up for June, their schedule is empty for the rest of the summer, leading to rumours of some sort of U.S. jaunt.
Others expect the band to enter the studio in July with producer Rick Rubin to begin recording their ninth studio album. Last month Metallica announced their recording plans with Rubin, who has worked with Slayer, System Of A Down, Slipknot, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave and many others.
