\"[Andols] is a totally different person. We jammed the other day and he\'s a monster behind the kit. There is a lot of passion and excitement in his eyes, I can really tell he is renewed.\"
Many people got a glimpse into the reasons why Andols originally left the group in Chimaira\'s DVD, \"The Dehumanizing Process\". Seen pacing parking lots for hours at a time, Andols clearly was not happy being on the road. On fansite chimairaworld.com the drummer comments:
\"First off, let me fill you in on what\'s been going on since then. I finished off another three semesters at Kent State University (all A\'s and one B no less!). I also started teaching drum lessons in Cleveland, with a handful of great students who I really enjoy working with. I also had the honor and priviledge to be a part of the Roadrunner 25th Anniversary album, as well the concert in NYC just about a month ago. Being involved in this project really was a wake-up call for me as to what I need to be doing. Between the RR United project and the two years away from everything, my passion for music and drumming has really been reignited. I would say more so than at anytime previously.\"
The split with departed skinsman Kevin Talley was amicable. Talley is tapped to play drums with The Red Chord on their upcoming U.S. tour.
Comments Hunter:
\"Kevin is an amazing drummer. This decision had nothing to do with his skills and everything to do with getting someone back who has been with us since day one. Some of us have known Andols since we were in high school.\"
On January 10, 2006 Chimaira released a special edition of their critically acclaimed, self-titled third album.
This two-disc set features the full-length album, seven live songs and two previously unreleased tracks. \"Chimaira\", originally released on August 9, 2005, was named one of the year\'s best albums by both Revolver and Decibel magazines.
It debuted at No. 10 on the Top Hard Rock chart and quickly ascended to No. 1 at Metal/Specialty Radio where it stayed for several weeks.
