Anthony Jude "AJ" Pero, drummer for Twisted Sister and Adrenaline Mob, has passed away. AJ Pero died in his sleep this morning on the bus while on tour. No further details were available at the time of writing, but a heart attack is suspected. AJ was 55.
AJ Pero was a member of Twisted Sister from 1982 to 1986, from 1997 to 1998, and again from 2003 until his death. During his time with the band, AJ Pero recorded six albums and embarked on four world tours.
AJ also performed on Adrenaline Mob's last two albums, joined Four By Fate (also featuring former Frehley's Comet members Tod Howarth and John Regan) and doing a side-project, Tred, that sadly never made it off the ground.
Most recently AJ Pero played a few shows with The Foundry, the band featuring former Iron Maiden frontman Blaze Bayley.
While continuing to tour and record, AJ was hosting drum clinics, holding classes and seminars, and completing an instructional dvd. AJ was also said to be in the beginning stages of writing a book on his life's journeys and lessons.
Factoid: AJ went to St. Peter's Boys High School in Staten Island, but left because the faculty made him cut his hair. He then went to New Dorp High School.
