Stewart Copeland's grooves have driven The Police to the top of the charts for the better part of two decades, but he is also an accomplished composer.
Stewart has written for films (including Francis Ford Coppola's Rumblefish and Oliver Stone's Wall Street), operas, and ballets among others.
On Saturday, April 19, Stewart Copeland will perform the world premiere of his latest work: a new score to a 90 minute edited version of the 1925 epic silent film 'Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ'.
Co-commissioned by Virginia Arts Festival, Stewart's score - including an awesome drum part for himself - will be performed live with Virginia Arts Festival Orchestra. The whole thing will be conducted by Richard Kaufmann.
