Reportedly, Tyler was driving in his hometown Marshalltown, Iowa alongside a marked police car last Saturday, September 7, and allegedly instigated the incident when he "basically flipped off the officer".

Marshalltown police Sgt. Melinda Ruopp states that the officer initially ignored the gesture, but then Oleson kept alongside the patrol car and proceeded to try and run it off the road.

Officers gave chase only to have the drummer attempt to reverse into their vehicle. Though the damage was only cosmetic, Tyler attempted to get away on foot, but failed to outrun the officers’ tasers. Ruopp:

"It was like he wanted our attention, so he got it."

Once brought in, the musician was charged with "alluding criminal mischief in the second degree for intentionally slamming is his brakes; aggravated assault for trying to run an officer off the road; and OWI (Operating a vehicle While Intoxicated) first offense." Additionally charges could be laid at a later date.
