Matt is aiming to raise $85,000 with a FundAnything campaign called Adopt the Arts. The drummer has launched the campaign with a humorous video in which he tries out some new songs on Jane in an attempt to come up with the perfect message for inspiring kids.

Matt and Jane also get a little help from some of their famous friends, including Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, who make surprise appearances in the video.

Matt explains how Adopt The Arts got started when his friend and neighbor Abby Berman, a mom with two kids at a school in his neighborhood, came with the hopes of doing a fundraiser for the school. Says Matt:

"She explained to me that the budget for art and music was being slashed and the kids were suffering. I went up to the school to see for myself and was shocked. Basically, there was no music program and from year to year the school didn’t know if it would be able to offer art or dance or theater. I found out that about 50% of the 535 elementary schools in LA School District don't have music and art classes."

Adopt The Arts has developed a curriculum that focuses on music theory, vocal music and world music. The kids also learn how to play modern band instruments. When the project adopts a school, a designated room will be fixed up. Adopt The Arts will donate 30 guitars, 3 bass guitars, 10 keyboards, 2 drum kits, and microphones.
